About us:
The Council of Mayors (SEQ) was established in 2005 to represent the interests of the fastest growing region in Australia. Representing residents across South East Queensland, member Councils work together to tackle the region’s biggest challenges and leverage opportunities to ensure the region is the best possible place to live, work and play.
In its short history, Council of Mayors (SEQ) has built a reputation for being an outcome-focused organisation, delivering innovative and strategic benefits for the region. Using the collective influence of our member Councils, we help shape positive government policy reform and investment outcomes for SEQ. We work together to explore emerging ideas and deliver solutions which protect and enhance the prosperity of SEQ.
Working closely with member councils and State and Federal governments, Council of Mayors (SEQ) plays a key role in the region’s Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games journey, waste reform, Regional Planning, and implementation of the $1.8 billion foundation SEQ City Deal. We continue to work on exciting and innovative partnerships including with Wisk Aero and Metro Vancouver to advance South East Queensland.
Key responsibilities:
- Research, develop and execute highly effective and strategic media and communication opportunities to promote Council of Mayors (SEQ), Councils, priority projects and South East Queensland.
- Provide strategic media-relations, including identifying emerging or potential media issues, and contribute to the effective management of these issues with advice on corporate positioning.
- Work with project teams, members and affiliates to deliver strategic media and communications in partnership with industry and government. For example, this includes supporting CoMSEQ-led legacy initiatives for Brisbane 2032, our Waste Portfolio Management Office, Resilient Rivers SEQ, and our ongoing partnership with Wisk-Aero.
- Manage and coordinate branding and other funding obligations with key partners including other levels of government.
- Design and implement media, communication and social media plans and campaigns, including writing, planning, monitoring, moderating, optimising and reporting on content that supports Council of Mayors (SEQ) communication objectives.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders on communications projects, and support preparation of written materials to ensure successful engagement with the media and stakeholders. That may include press releases, talking points, speeches, web content, social media, branding, design, briefs, presentations etc.
- Support development of correspondence, submissions and other matters, ensuring all correspondence and relevant documents are finalised to meet timeframes.
- Any other required activities or projects as directed by the Manager or CEO.
