The opportunity
The Regional Procurement Manager - Water reports to the Head of Supply Chain Management and is accountable for leading the procurement team for Downer's growing Southeast Queensland Water business, and supporting the delivery of a large pipeline of capital project works for our clients. This newly created senior role involves leading procurement strategy development across a portfolio of major capital projects, effectively optimising spend and managing risk. This is a high-impact role, with the opportunity to develop and lead a team delivering category management, strategic sourcing and project procurement activity.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute category strategies for capital procurement including civil, engineering, electrical, OEM equipment.
- Provide leadership to the team on development and implementation of project procurement plans including RFx, supplier negotiation and contracting.
- Drive innovation, sustainability, value optimisation and social procurement outcomes in all sourcing decisions.
- Ensure team compliance with the law, legislation and Downer practices in all aspects of sourcing and contracting.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of end-to-end supply chain and procurement activity for our clients.
- Provide an escalation point and ensure detail of cost, schedule and risk information relating to procurement activities are captured in project budget, schedules, registers etc.
- Participate in building client relationships and opportunities and support in Governance and Contract Compliance. Maintain effective relationships to manage client expectations.
- Actively manage team workload and performance, ensuring procurement deliverables are provided on time, to a high standard, and in line with stakeholder and client objectives.

What we're looking for
- A tertiary/post-graduate qualification in commerce, law, or related field.
- Engineering, construction, or project management qualifications would be an advantage.
- 15+ years of procurement and category management experience in capital projects, maintenance or operations essential, with delivery of complex programs of work an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, deadline driven environment.
- Sound understanding of contract law and construction law in Australia is an advantage.
- A high level of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people including managing relationships with external clients/suppliers/contractors, etc.
