Portfolio Manager - PMO

The newly created Portfolio Manager - PMO position is a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of large and complex projects across our major projects portfolio. You will be responsible for the performance of a diverse portfolio within the ICT environment.

The role requires monthly consolidation and analysis of all programs and projects status reports, supporting governance committees’ decisions around investment allocations, resourcing, scheduling, budgets, and benefits.

The Manager is responsible for the following, but not limited to:

• Managing and overseeing the tracking and reporting on project portfolio performance, providing a real-time, comprehensive and prioritized view of all projects, monitoring all areas of project expenditure, identifying and reporting on variances.
• Developing and maintaining a portfolio schedule and providing advice to program and project management teams on schedule management processes including dependencies, deliverables, and milestones.
• Leading the Client’s portfolio schedule and reporting capability through developing and embedding a more streamlined program, project, and portfolio reporting process.
• Developing governance committees reporting and dashboards to support key decision making with analysis and insights of the portfolio performance.
• Providing ongoing support to program and project management teams across the client’s diverse ICT portfolio.

Relevant Duties include:

Leadership and Accountability:

• Lead the portfolio performance stream in the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) to adapt reporting and analytics tools, processes, and procedures to accommodate a variety of project and program sizes, types, and delivery models for different levels of reporting.
• Lead opportunities to consolidate reporting, remove duplication, identify, and implement new opportunities for improvement with respect to portfolio reporting.
• Support program and project leads, as well as Senior Responsible Owners (SROs) and governance committees to ensure effective delivery and oversight of the Client’s projects and programs.

Stakeholder Management:

• Work with EPMO colleagues to support implementation of the Client’s Project Portfolio Management Framework (PPMF) and assurance gateway process by helping to build capability and awareness in your day-to-day dealings with project owners across the organisation.
• Communicate and develop key strategic relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, promoting the client’s business objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to the client’s Program Directors and Project Managers across the end-to-end delivery of programs and projects, including activities such as project planning, expenditure tracking and forecasting, schedule analysis, risks and issues, and reporting to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope in line with established client’s project management methodology.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in health or project/program/portfolio management or relevant experience in EPMO within a government environment.
• Program and project management certification in Prince2, PMBOK, MSP, Agile or related methodology.
• Proven experience in leading transformational projects and programs, working with tight deadlines, budget constraints, and competing priorities, will be highly valued.
