Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapist provides and directs occupational therapy services to residents in order to help them lead more productive, active, and independent lives.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Certified in Occupational Therapy by the American Occupational Therapy Association
- One to two years clinical experience in physical disabilities as a registered occupational therapist
- Licensed/registered as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- CPR certification strongly preferred and encouraged
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides occupational therapy services to residents and initiates referrals when appropriate and in accordance with occupational therapy department procedures.
- Along with the C.O.T.A., conducts resident screening at regular intervals to determine need for intervention/treatment.
- Performs comprehensive resident evaluations by assessing level of impairment, disability, and dysfunction. Interprets and communicates evaluation findings to residents, families, and other team members.
- Develops treatment plans by identifying a problem or deficit list, including short and long term goals, resident goals, and a method to achieve identified goals.
- Implements treatment plans, monitors resident response to intervention, and modifies treatment to attain goals in accordance with physician orders, plan of care, and discharge plans.
- Develops appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the resident in their own environment.
- Provides, recommends and/or fabricates adaptive devices or other equipment. Trains residents, families, and appropriate staff on the use or application of the device.
- Supervises and directs C.O.T.A.s in the implementation of the treatment plan. Supervises students and volunteers.
- Documents results of assessment, treatment, follow-up, discharge, and billing notes in an accurate, timely manner in accordance with Standards of Practice, state and federal regulations, and policies/procedures.
- Reviews the quality, appropriateness, effectiveness, and efficiency of services, using pre-determined criteria.
- Commits to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and Concordia policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of resident and employee records and information. Has a duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Corporate Compliance Officer.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $55,000 - $80,000/year
