Equis Australia is leading Australia’s clean energy transition, with an immediate focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) followed by Wind and Solar farm developments.

By mid 2025, Equis’ first BESS project at Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub will be operational, creating an opportunity for an experienced Battery Bidding Strategy Manager to lead the battery bidding through commissioning into Commercial Operations. By mid 2027, the role will expand to operating a NSW BESS, closely followed by QLD and SA BESS projects.

Day to day the Battery Bidding Strategy Manager will work with the broader Energy Markets team as well as the Battery bidding Optimization algorithm to determine the day and day ahead BESS revenue optimization strategy. This will be a challenging and rewarding role for a person who thrives in a trading environment and shows sound judgment based on complex and evolving risk factors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage Battery Bidding Strategy - setting up price and volume bid bands, overseeing rebids daily
• Key interface between battery bidding software provider and third-party battery control room
• Responsible for manual battery bidding, and economic battery rebidding
• Analyze spot market outcomes (competitor bidding behavior, impacts of network constraints on price)
• Contribute to forward trading strategy based on spot market analysis
• Contribute to market modelling assumptions for plexos modelling (organizational source of truth for what we expect to happen in the physical market - what will each organization do with its asset if it acts commercially)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

• 10 years energy market experience
• Direct exposure to BESS bidding (setting bid bands, assessment of day ahead price and risk factors)
• Operational experience with third party or in house battery bidding algorithm software
• Deep understanding of Electricity forward contract trading and interaction of forward contracts with spot operation of BESS assets
• Codes R/Python/SQL
