About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, creative, experienced educationalist to take a leadership role in the Children’s Ground’s Learning and Wellbeing team. The position will be responsible for both teaching during session delivery and supporting educators who work across multiple locations in Central Australia by providing direction, support and supervision alongside the Head of Learning.
By privileging first culture with the best of western teachings, delivery is guided by the frameworks Arrernte-kenhe Angkentye (Arrernte Early Years framework) and Apmerenge-ntyele (Everything comes from the land). With a growing team of both First Nations and non First Nations educators, a community development approach ensures inclusivity, collaboration and solutions focused problem solving. Committing to community plans that outline community aspirations assists with learning planning and focus. This position will work in the centre, outstations, communities and ‘on country’.
What does a typical day at Children’s Ground look like for an educator?
Our educators work with a community of First Nations educators, families and children to assist in fulfilling their visions and wishes for their community and their children. Every community is set up a little bit differently, but generally our educators come into our central location each day. From there, they will prepare for a day of learning out on country, or a day at a learning location based in community or at town camps. A day will involve preparing materials, packing vehicles, coordinating pickups, driving, setting up the learning environment, discussing community development with families, managing learning and health data entry, and observing and recording learning and development which includes considering individual learning plans.
