The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a community minded and experienced local government leader who is adaptable, resourceful, and up for a challenge to join the Shire of Meekatharra’s Executive team as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. The key objective of the role will see you provide high level confidential management support to the Chief Executive Officer. This will encompass managing the efficient statutory provision of financial and administrative services for the Shire including overseeing, control, and coordination of all accounting functions and associated activities of the organisation. The successful candidate will also assist in the delivery of, and outcomes within, the Strategic Community Plan, Corporate Business Plan, and other informing documents and act as the CEO as, and when directed.

The Deal

  • Commencing base salary between $150,000 to $165,000 with a total remuneration package in the range of $236,250 and $271,225, based on skills, knowledge and experience.
  • 11.5% superannuation plus additional superannuation up to 5% subject to contribution by the employee.
  • An Executive residence with all utilities, including internet, provided for free as part of the salary package. A selection of housing options available for the successful applicant to choose from and the residence is offered furnished or unfurnished.
  • The provision of a fully maintained executive 4WD vehicle which includes unrestricted private use within Western Australia.
  • Association Membership Fees provision of up to $1,200 and Professional Development Provision to a maximum of $5,000 will be provided by the Shire.
  • 5 weeks’ annual leave.
  • Relocation Expenses provision to a maximum of $10,000 will be offered.

About You

  • You are a passionate and energetic finance professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Local Government at a Supervisory / Manager level, or higher.
  • You possess tertiary qualifications in Local Government, commerce or management.
  • You can correctly interpret and comprehend the Local Government Act and associated legislation and manage the complete accounting function for the organisation in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and the Local Government Act 1995.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of integrated strategic planning and asset management principles.
  • You have excellent communication, numeracy, and accuracy skills, with highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
