Director of Business Development - Perth Based - Global Engineering/Design Consultancy

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director of Business Development to join a Global Engineering Consultancy in the Energy & Resources sector. Following a period of strategic acquisitions, the company has now stabilised and is focused on expanding its project portfolio and strengthening its market presence. This senior leadership role is critical in driving business growth, securing key projects, and shaping the future direction of the organisation.

Role Overview

This executive position provides the platform to make a significant impact on the company’s growth strategy. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strong client relationships, and securing major projects across the mining, renewable energy, infrastructure, and power sectors. The company’s lean WA structure allows for quick decision-making and direct engagement with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead business development strategy, identifying and securing new opportunities across key industry sectors.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including owner-operators, EPCMs, and tier-one mining companies.
  3. Negotiate and secure contracts for large-scale projects, ensuring commercial success and long-term partnerships.
  4. Collaborate closely with technical and project teams to align business development efforts with operational capabilities.
  5. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and market presence.

About You

  1. 15+ years of experience in business development within the engineering, mining, or energy sectors.
  2. A proven track record in securing large-scale projects and establishing strong client networks.
  3. Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and close complex contracts.
  4. Existing relationships within the WA resources sector, particularly with operators and EPCMs.
  5. Ability to drive strategy, influence stakeholders, and lead business growth initiatives.
  6. A results-driven mindset, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
