Job description

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. To conduct component overhauls as directed by the support engineer. He will also be required to mobilize offshore to client sites as required for ADHOC projects.

  2. Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas

  3. Repair, maintenance & test of cranes & lifting equipment inc. but not limited to hook blocks, balls & swivels, overload protection units, and spooler units.
  4. Conduct independently offshore crane condition evaluations.
  5. Provide accurate identification of all components, report on conditions and provide sufficient information to order correct spare parts.
  6. Ensure workshop is kept clean & tidy and all company equipment is kept in good order.
  7. Ensure project requirements are met within the time allowed.
  8. Ensure constant improvement of safety, performance, and quality standards.
  9. Ensure all ongoing work is correctly risk assessed and identify/action new assessments.
  10. Work as part of a team with other departments.
  11. Uphold the standards of the company and work in line with the company's objectives.

Requirements

  1. Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical operations or maintenance, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  2. Mechanical diploma or equivalent (SVQ, city & guilds etc.).
  3. 5 years in a lifting equipment environment.
  4. Experience in repair & maintenance of cranes related equipment.
  5. Experience in working to schedules.

Preferred

  1. At least vocational/technical High School Diploma Holder.
  2. Safety Training Certificates.
  3. Experience in the offshore service industry or similar environment.
  4. Experience in cranes & lifting equipment maintenance & repair.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Maintenance and Repair:

    • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on machinery, tools, and equipment used in the workshop.
    • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in various equipment.
    • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble machines and parts.
    • Replace worn or damaged components such as motors, belts, gears, or electrical systems.
  • Assembly and Installation:

    • Assemble machinery or equipment based on specifications or engineering drawings.
    • Ensure that all parts are installed correctly and safely, following manufacturer instructions or engineering guidelines.
    • Install and test newly built or repaired equipment to verify performance.
  • Testing and Quality Control:

    • Conduct tests on equipment to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.
    • Perform regular inspections to check for wear and tear, and assess the quality of repairs and assembly.
    • Record the results of tests and inspections, reporting any issues or inconsistencies to management or engineering teams.
    • Calibrate machinery or equipment as needed to maintain accuracy.
  • Preventive Maintenance:

    • Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to extend its lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
    • Lubricate moving parts, check fluid levels, and replace filters or other consumables as needed.
    • Create and follow maintenance schedules to ensure machines are checked and serviced at appropriate intervals.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and testing activities, including the parts used, time taken, and any issues found.
    • Ensure that service logs and maintenance schedules are up to date.
    • Keep detailed inventories of workshop tools, equipment, and materials to ensure that resources are available when needed.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols and standards while working with machinery and tools, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
    • Ensure that the workshop is clean, organized, and free from hazards to prevent accidents.
    • Comply with industry regulations and standards for equipment maintenance and repair, such as OSHA or ISO requirements.
