NES Fircroft Permanent Placement division is looking for a Workshop Supervisor based in Dubai. Our client is a dynamic engineering business working in the aerospace market specializing in maintenance tooling and ground support equipment. Their services include engineering, planned maintenance, repairs, upgrades, calibration, and testing. They operate workshop and field technicians supporting our customers at airlines, MROs, and engine/aircraft OEMs. Their global presence includes facilities across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and The Middle East.
Your role: We are looking for a committed and experienced Workshop Supervisor to lead an engineering team. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations and management of the workshop and engineers, both field and workshop-based, while delivering maintenance and repair to a diverse range of aircraft ground support equipment and tooling. Your responsibilities:
Day-to-day Management: Assume day-to-day responsibility for all aspects of the workshop facility, including workforce training and mentoring; compliance; health and safety; equipment flow and maintenance; space requirements and workshop layout.
Quality Leadership: Forward-thinking guidance in overseeing all aspects of quality within the team.
Allocation of Responsibility: Responsible for the process of assigning tasks, responsibilities, and resources in the workshop including scheduling to ensure turnaround times fall within contract SLA/KPI.
Time Management: Coordinate and prioritize jobs for workshop engineers, including monitoring progress of each individual repair job and managing any delays.
Cross-functional Management (CFM): Working as part of a wider engineering management team; supporting work activities/departments at various multi-site locations when needed; collaborating with the operations team to coordinate onsite visits and ensure engineers are prepared for the works needed for the team.
Continuous Improvement: Cross-functionally collaborate with internal departments to assess and implement systems and processes as part of ongoing improvement, including root-cause analysis and problem-solving.
Stock Control: Assume responsibility for inventory and forecasting levels, including ordering spare parts for unplanned work and general or spares for planned maintenance.
Mechanical Drawing Symbols: Ability to read engineering drawings and manuals to support fault-finding and finding spare parts, including GD&T symbol charts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a related field, preferred in Business or Engineering.
Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role and industry.
Qualifications and Skills:
Fluent in English (other languages are a plus). Ability to read and write English and follow verbal and written instructions in English. A clear understanding of math is essential.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Able to communicate with people at all levels.
Demonstrate a proactive approach to the role and will be committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Clear technical competency and at least five years’ related experience.
Proven experience in engineering management or a similar role.
Formal engineering or similar related qualifications.
Knowledgeable of workshop equipment, tools, procedures, and safety standards.
Skilled in planning, organizing, leading, and problem-solving.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent planning and organizational ability with an analytical approach to problem-solving.
Ability to manage a team and accurately report to the leadership team.
Experienced with IT, demonstrating ability in MS Office - including Email, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to travel to other sites as needed.
Full clean driving license.
Must have authorization to work in the UAE.
Must be able to gain an airport pass if considered necessary by management, therefore no criminal record.
