Welding Inspector

We are looking for experienced Welding Inspector to join our team.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Inspect received materials, review Material Test Certificates (MTC), and ensure traceability.
2. Monitor material storage, shelf life, and heat number transfer.
3. Witness mechanical and chemical testing in laboratories.
4. Oversee welding consumables and painting material storage.
5. Review project specifications, client requirements, ITPs, and applicable codes & standards.
6. Verify calibration records, drawings (isometric, GA, P&ID), and NDE operator qualifications.
7. Witness welding qualification tests (PQR, WQT) and ensure compliance with WPS.
8. Supervise pipe cleaning, bevel preparation, fit-up, and preweld inspections.
9. Monitor preheat/inter-pass temperatures, welding parameters, and ensure compliance with WPS.
10. Conduct weld visual inspections and approve joints for NDT.
11. Witness NDT, PMI, ferrite, hardness testing, and evaluate weld defects per ASME standards.
12. Perform line walkdowns, issue punch points, and oversee post-weld heat treatment (PWHT).
13. Ensure proper welding conditions, inter-pass temperature control, and adherence to safety measures.
14. Verify electrode specifications, weather conditions, and inter-run cleaning.
15. Monitor NDT procedures, welder qualifications, and repair assessments.
16. Review and approve WPS/PQR, welder qualifications, inspection reports, and documentation.

Desired Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

1. Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
2. ASNT/NDT Level II or III certification in RT, UT, MT, PT (preferred).

Experience:

1. 5+ years of experience (including GCC) in welding inspection, quality control, and NDT in piping, tanks, and structural projects.
2. Experience in oil & gas, power plants, or heavy fabrication industries.

Key Responsibilities & Attributes:

1. Strong attention to detail and adherence to QA/QC procedures.
2. Ability to witness and approve welding and NDT operations as per project ITP.
3. Experience in punch point clearance, hydro testing, flushing, and air blowing.
4. Effective communication and coordination with clients, contractors, and project teams.
5. Knowledge of safety standards and risk assessments in welding operations.
