Job Description:
The Utility Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of utility systems offshore. This includes routine monitoring, maintenance, and emergency response for equipment such as power generators, desalination plants, sweet gas compressors, and associated electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend daily meetings to review and plan operational tasks and HSE compliance
Conduct regular patrols to inspect operational conditions of utility equipment (generators, pumps, fans, compressors)
Detect and report abnormalities and carry out emergency measures when required
Troubleshoot and support maintenance of power generator control systems and low voltage switchgears
Assist in electrical maintenance tasks and modifications in accordance with safety standards
Supervise desalination operations and support routine checks across utility systems
Conduct preventive maintenance on power and utility systems to ensure smooth operations
Operate valves, fans, pumps, and related equipment and monitor operational data
Maintain oil and water levels in all major equipment, including regular cleaning and part replacements (e.g., carbon brushes, filters)
Perform routine test runs for standby engines and compressors
Conduct equipment changeovers and test cranes in powerhouse and compressor skids
Collect gas and oil samples for analysis and deliver them to relevant labs as instructed
Additional Requirements:
Strong knowledge of plant utility systems and equipment
Practical understanding of electrical maintenance and safety procedures
Familiarity with offshore operations and HSE standards
Ability to interpret technical instructions and respond to breakdowns efficiently
