Upholstery Technician

An Upholstery Technician is responsible for repairing, restoring, and maintaining furniture and other upholstered items. They work with various materials like fabric, leather, foam, and wood to ensure that furniture is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Responsibilities:

• Repair or replace damaged frames, springs, and other structural components.
• Restore worn-out upholstery by replacing or recovering with new fabric or leather.
• Rebuild cushions and padding to restore comfort and functionality.
• Provide quotes and time estimates for upholstery work.
• Ensure that the finished product meets customer expectations in terms of quality, appearance, and functionality.
• Inspect all work to ensure it meets quality standards and fix any issues or defects before completing the project.
• Maintain and repair upholstery tools and equipment.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed while using machinery or tools.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in using sewing machines, staplers, and other upholstery tools.
• Ability to perform precise measurements and ensure high-quality finishes.
• Strong understanding of fabrics, colors, and design trends.
• Ability to identify issues with furniture and recommend solutions.
• Able to work with heavy furniture and perform tasks that require physical strength and endurance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training in upholstery or a related field is a plus.
• 1 year or more experience in furniture repair, upholstery, or a similar trade is highly preferred.
