Underwriting Representative

Cigna continues to expand across the Middle East and Africa region through an innovative array of products that meet the growing needs of the health insurance market. The underwriting team has played a key role in this success of Cigna MEA and are looking to recruit an underwriter support staff to join the team based in Dubai.

The primary purpose of this position is to help underwriters overcome obstacles in their workload and meet timelines by fulfilling underwriting support responsibilities. This position will be involved in day-to-day workflow management, reinforcing ease of doing business by meeting our different stakeholders' expectations and providing quality of service on a consistent basis.

Key Accountabilities & Training

1. Manage the large corporate and SME team mailbox, and allocation of quotes among underwriters.
2. Prepare Table of Benefits for renewals and new business inceptions for corporate and SME.
3. Perform legal check on new quote census.
4. Screen SME and corporate groups before allocation.
5. Generate reports from the system and do the needful formatting.
6. Liaise with sales team to manage expectations on quote TATs.
7. Participate in problem-solving activities to define problems, identify root causes, and suggest solutions for continuous improvements of processes and procedures to work more efficiently and effectively.
8. Utilize and adhere to internal guidelines and procedures to ensure that all assigned work is processed in a timely manner and meets compliant standards.
9. Support underwriters in other tasks, as needed.

Training:

The candidate will have a complete training schedule including but not limited to the below:

1. Health Insurance regulations
2. Understanding of health insurance market and competitors landscape
3. Cigna products and benefits
4. Underwriting concepts: Premium, claims, Loss Ratio, IBNR, Outstanding, Trend etc.
5. UW Tools & Portals

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Mathematics, Nursing or similar.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a must.

Knowledge of insurance industry and/or medical condition assessment will be viewed favorably.
