Job description

Job Purpose:

Manage and handle the cash / cheques transactions at the teller counter and ensure the delivery of quality service to customers while adhering to operational controls and avoiding cash excesses and shortages.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Meet transaction processing standards and maintain high level of customer service standards.
  2. Process cash transactions (deposits / withdrawals) in both local and foreign currency and ensure that cash is balanced at the end of the day.
  3. Verify signature(s) on payment cheques & ensure that these are approved as per authority levels prior to disbursement.
  4. Accept and process all types of clearing / collection cheques.
  5. Issue pay orders and drafts.
  6. Monitor cash deposit amounts / quality of notes in order to detect unusual transactions (money laundering, forgery) etc.
  7. Highlight security concerns to the Chief Teller and / or Branch Operations Manager.
  8. Achieve set targets in terms of service standards for customer transactions.
  9. Alert the Chief Teller / Branch Manager / Branch Operations Manager of unusual transactions (money laundering / forgery) that may be detected.
  10. Maintain high service standards consistently.
  11. Manage cash position of the branch / Till in order to ensure that sufficient cash is held for customers. Verify large cash holding of cash or its particular denominations.
  12. Act as custodian of Cash Safe in the Vault.
  13. Sort out soiled notes and deposit these at the Central Bank.
  14. Meet financial targets assigned by RBG (Assets and Liabilities products).
  15. Perform any other duties or responsibilities consistent with the role as assigned by management.

Education:

• Higher Secondary School

Professional / Technical Qualifications / Diplomas:

• Technical knowledge on negotiable instruments (such as Cheques)

Experience:

• 2 to 3 years' experience as Teller

Other Skills Required for the Job:

  1. Knowledge of Banking operations / techniques
  2. Communication skills in English and Arabic (written and spoken)
  3. Customer Care skills
  4. Organizing and planning skills
  5. PC skills (including familiarity with any banking software)
