Role - Manager - Technical and Production (Dubai)

Currently House of Shipping is recruiting for a Manager - Technical and Production on behalf of one of its clients in Dubai who are a container conversion company.
Job purpose
The Manager – Technical and Production is responsible for overseeing all technical, engineering, and production activities within the container conversion business. The role includes planning, executing, and monitoring floor production and site activities while ensuring adherence to client requirements, quality standards, and project timelines. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and an innovative approach to optimize manpower, material usage, and technological advancements for delivering high-quality container conversion solutions.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Technical Management:
- Plan, execute, and monitor daily activities, including design, technical, engineering, QA/QC, HSE, and production operations.
- Review and verify all engineering drawings, including architectural (civil and mechanical), MEP, fire safety systems, and internal finishes.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices in engineering and production processes.
- Drive product and system development initiatives to ensure alignment with market demands and innovation.
- Adapt and implement new technologies, materials, and systems in response to changing market conditions.
Production and Quality Control:
- Oversee floor production and on-site installation activities to ensure timely project completion.
- Verify Bill of Materials (BOM) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) to confirm accuracy and alignment with estimates.
- Arrange and monitor quality control (QC) inspections for ongoing and finished units.
- Optimize manpower and material usage without compromising product quality and finish.
- Ensure compliance with set quality standards and benchmarks defined by management.
Project Management:
- Study and understand client requirements through bidding documents, meetings, and discussions before developing proposals.
- Ensure timely completion of projects within the agreed schedules and budgets.
- Oversee site installation works and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for smooth execution.
- Report daily activities and progress updates to the General Manager.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage technical and production teams effectively, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Provide training and guidance to the team to enhance technical skills and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the primary problem-solver for technical and production challenges.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards during production and on-site installation activities.
- Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective measures where required.
Education Background and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical)
- Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of experience in technical and production roles, preferably in the container conversion business or similar industries.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and familiarity with project management tools.
