Technical Director - Electrical

Job Description

AECOM are currently seeking an electrically bias Technical Director, to join our Building Engineering team. The Technical Director is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and guiding the electrical design team. The role involves driving innovation, ensuring technical excellence, and managing the design and development of electrical systems and components for various projects. The Technical Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions that meet project specifications and timelines.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers and designers.
2. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
3. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
4. Oversee the design and development of electrical systems and components from concept to production.
5. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all technical and safety standards.
6. Collaborate with project managers to allocate resources and manage project timelines.
7. Provide technical guidance and support to the design team on complex electrical engineering challenges.
8. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
9. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
10. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., mechanical, structural engineering, architecture) to ensure cohesive and integrated solutions.
11. Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for electrical design.
12. Conduct design reviews, audits, and risk assessments to ensure the reliability and safety of designs.
13. Develop and manage the electrical design budget, including resource allocation and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN).
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and components.
• 18+ years of experience in electrical design, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
