Job description
  1. Liaise with Work Placement Departments to get the approvals for the cohorts to be finalized before the beginning of each semester.
  2. Provide an orientation for the students including schedules (days and hours), parking, evaluation methods, and overall responsibilities.
  3. Manage and supervise the students’ apprenticeship blueprint.
  4. Identify and assign appropriate activities and projects that are in alignment with the blueprint.
  5. Monitor student progress to ensure stated objectives are adequately addressed and met.
  6. Serve as a mentor. Answer student questions and serve as a resource to enhance student understanding on business-related issues.
  7. Maintain student confidentiality. Facilitate and/or seek interactions with the industry supervisor.
  8. Assess student competence to identify strengths and address weaknesses. Complete all student assessments as per blueprint and apprenticeship assessment strategy.
  9. Communicate with the Division Chair and the Academic Program Chair with any concerns or questions regarding student progress as soon as issues arise.
  10. Maintain a current CV/resume and provide a copy to the Academic Chair or HR department as requested.
  11. The Teaching Assistant should be aware at all times that his/her role is diffuse as manager/teacher/mentor. The Teaching Assistant should strive to stimulate the student's interest in all aspects of practice and encourage innovative thinking and approaches to practice.
