Teacher - Visual Design / Dubai

The purpose of this job is to be part of Istituto Marangoni teachers’ education team, teaching on a range of BA and MA courses in the field of Visual Design.

As a teacher, you’ll also be involved in wider enterprise, course administration, scholarship, and research developments in your area of expertise: Graphic Design, Publishing Graphics, Visual Brand Identity, Communication Design, Art Direction, Multimedia Design, Motion Graphics, and Printing Technologies.

You’ll use this activity in your teaching and in supporting educational partners to develop research-engaged practice.

Teaching Activities

Plan and deliver the subjects through a clear and appropriate approach towards the student, compliant with CAA standards. Draw up Course File Structure. Prepare teaching materials for units assigned in accordance with Istituto Marangoni methodological guidelines and indications received by the local Director of Education. Engage with the academic and creative culture of the School through the development and participation in School and Company projects, lectures, and events, enabling currency & innovation within the related field of study. Perform course management and administrative duties as required in support of learning and teaching and individual scholarly development in complex and changing contexts.

Students’ Academic Support

Develop the students’ learning progress and monitor the learning approach, student experience, and developmental stages of the students. Develop students' creativity, passion for the subject, and problem-solving skills through group work, field trips, and industry-supported projects. Ensure that students are appropriately supported and provided with timely and constructive guidance for their academic developments and pastoral care. Assess students’ progression in formative and summative assessments throughout the academic year. Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with an international pool of lecturers, students of different nationalities, staff, and the local Director of Education. Contribute to the development and enhancement of designated academic provision.

R&D Activities

Promote and develop the R&D activities assigned by the Director of Education. Support the R&D of the School and the connection with other scientific partners.

Industry Project

Initiate & foster engagement with relevant industries, organizations, and professional bodies to develop opportunities for the School in the field.

Educational and Professional Requirements

1. Bachelor’s and Master Degree in the area of expertise mentioned above.
2. PhD is a Plus.
3. Min. 3 years of experience as a teacher in an International Institution (min. University Level).
4. Education Qualification Equivalency from the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates.
5. Relevant teaching experience with students from a wide variety of age groups and skill levels (undergraduate level, postgraduate level).
6. Relevant experience with creating educational materials and extracurricular activities to challenge students and meet curriculum objectives.
7. Based in the UAE or Gulf area.
8. Available for full-time or part-time job.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail as well as critical-thinking skills.
10. Excellent research skills, pursuing research activities, writing research proposals, research reports, papers, and other publications, managing research budgets, preparing bids for funding for departmental research projects.
11. Strong relationship-building skills to build networks and solid connections with the luxury (fashion or design) industry.
