Due to our expansion, applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals who are passionate and forward-thinking and who will thrive in the vibrant learning environment of Hartland. By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in Business Studies and Economics by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment, and pastoral care. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all.
The department runs successful GCSE, A-Level and BTEC Level-3 courses in both business and economics, creating innovative learning opportunities and enabling students to develop real-world understanding to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Economics is taught at both GCSE and A-Level following the Edexcel International curriculum (IGCSE and IAL). Economics students at Hartland have had huge success across the last two years with A-Level results of 100% A*-B in both years and our first economics GCSE cohort last year achieving 88% grade 5-9.
As a department and a school, we believe that students benefit immensely from additional opportunities for learning. We, therefore, also coordinate, for example, external speakers and workshops in the area of financial management, talks with relevant universities such as the London School of Economics, as well as running a Dragons Den competition each year and a business enterprise day.
