We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sustainability Reporting & Finance Manager to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in managing our sustainability reporting process while also supporting our finance department. The role will involve creating accurate and detailed sustainability reports aligned with industry standards and best practices, as well as providing financial oversight and strategic advice. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with substantial experience in sustainability reporting, ideally with an MBA or equivalent advanced business qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
Sustainability Reporting:
Lead the preparation and publication of the company's annual sustainability report, ensuring it meets the highest standards of transparency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
Collect, analyze, and report on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data in accordance with relevant frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, HR, procurement) to gather sustainability performance data and ensure consistency across departments.
Track and report on sustainability goals, KPIs, and targets, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure that the sustainability report communicates the company's commitment to ESG principles, and aligns with the expectations of stakeholders including investors, customers, and regulators.
Support the finance department with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to integrate sustainability goals into the broader financial strategy.
Provide insights into the financial implications of sustainability initiatives, ensuring that the company's sustainability efforts are cost-effective and aligned with financial targets.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis and financial impact assessments for sustainability projects and programs.
Support internal and external audits by ensuring financial and sustainability data accuracy and compliance.
Strategy & Business Development:
Provide strategic advice and insights to senior leadership on both sustainability and financial matters, supporting decision-making processes.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to sustainability reporting and corporate finance.
Identify and pursue opportunities to improve the company's sustainability performance, both operationally and financially.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with senior leadership to align sustainability efforts with the company's overall vision and business strategy.
Engage with external auditors, consultants, and industry bodies to stay abreast of evolving standards and best practices.
Facilitate clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders on sustainability initiatives and financial performance.
Key Requirements:
Education:
Chartered Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
An MBA or equivalent advanced business qualification is highly desirable.
Experience:
Proven experience in sustainability reporting, with a strong understanding of relevant reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP).
At least 5 years of experience in a finance-related role, ideally with exposure to financial analysis, reporting, and strategy.
Experience integrating sustainability objectives with financial goals and operations.
Familiarity with carbon accounting and other ESG-related metrics.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks and reporting standards.
Excellent financial acumen and ability to interpret complex financial data.
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; proficiency in sustainability reporting software is a plus.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Strong project management skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
