The Surveyor/CAD Technician plays a vital role in the construction and building industry, responsible for conducting surveys, collecting data, and creating accurate CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings and models. The Surveyor/CAD Technician works closely with the surveying team and project stakeholders to ensure precise measurements, detailed documentation, and efficient design representation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surveying and Data Collection: Conduct field surveys using various equipment, such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners. Measure and record accurate data related to land features, topography, boundaries, and existing structures. Collect data for construction layout, as-built surveys, and other project requirements.
- CAD Drawing and Modelling: Utilize CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Revit, to create accurate and detailed drawings, plans, and models based on survey data. Generate 2D and 3D representations of land, buildings, structures, and infrastructure. Ensure adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze survey data, interpret measurements, and perform calculations to determine distances, angles, elevations, and other relevant information. Verify accuracy and consistency of collected data and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive survey reports, including detailed drawings, diagrams, and descriptions. Document survey results, findings, and observations. Communicate survey information effectively to project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless integration of surveying activities with overall project requirements. Coordinate with engineers and architects to incorporate survey data into design plans. Provide support and assistance during construction layout and verification.
- Equipment Maintenance and Calibration: Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of surveying equipment. Perform routine checks and troubleshooting to maintain the accuracy and reliability of instruments. Coordinate equipment servicing and repairs when necessary.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate safety measures. Promote a culture of safety among team members and maintain a safe working environment.
