Under the guidance of the Operations Supervisor & Operations Manager, the surf team leader will assist with the following:
Follow the relevant Safety Operation Plans.
Provide constructive feedback to instructors to progress their instructing technique.
Provide constructive feedback to lifeguards to progress their lifeguard skills.
Ensure the Surf Team Staff are fully trained and competent for roles.
Ensure staff development in learning new skills and roles at Al Ain Adventures.
Assist management with paperwork and administration related to Surf team staff and complete in a timely manner while demonstrating attention to detail.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment; comply with safety procedures including the use of required safety equipment and identify unsafe practices and conditions.
Ensure the safety of all guests participating in surfing activities.
Ensure safety of all instructors and staff associated with the Surf Pool.
Inspect and ensure equipment is safe and used properly by guests and staff.
Perform health and safety briefings to guests on a daily basis.
Follow Health and Safety practices as designated by the facility.
Anticipate problems and seize opportunities to prevent injury.
Respond effectively under pressure.
Treat all first aid situations with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Participate and facilitate actively in training sessions to ensure skills are maintained at or above the accepted level.
Be courteous and professional when interacting with customers and fellow team members.
Identify any surf pool safety issues.
Promote and maintain the utmost integrity and the highest calibre of customer service and respect to all guests and other Team Members.
Be familiar with all the facilities at Al Ain Adventures including locations and hours of operation.
Maintain general awareness of Al Ain Adventures operation at all times and comply with security policies and procedures in order to secure company assets.
Perform regular audits on lifeguards and instructors.
Keep a high level of fitness.
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Operations Supervisor & Operations Manager.
Qualification:
High School Graduate Diploma mandatory from a recognized/reputed university. College Degree, Diploma Courses preferred.
Other Qualification:
ODC beach Lifeguard certificate or equivalent from any authorized training center.
ISA level 1 surf Instructor or equivalent from any authorized training center.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years experience working as a competent surf instructor or lifeguard in a team leader role within a similar Water-based Adventure Park, with up to date log-book.
Skills:
Must be able to work effectively with peers, team members, and regulatory agency personnel.
Experienced surfer with the ability to teach by example up to intermediate level.
Ability to lead, coach and mentor intermediate level of surfer.
Ability to implement approved water rescue methods.
Ability to recognize emergencies and to take effective courses of action.
Ability to create/interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer efficient working with MS Office products preferred.
