Responsibilities
Responsible for developing the purchasing strategy in order to meet the business needs.
Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
Ensure all projects are within budget, time schedule and standards.
Develop relationships with outside suppliers.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all phases of operation are properly planned and executed in conjunction with the purchasing department.
Serve as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers (as needed).
Negotiate contracts and monitor the progress of suppliers to ensure their quality of service and products.
Develop forecasts on price trends and their impact on future activities.
Ensure that all purchasing activities are carried out with the highest level of ethics and supplier relations devoid of any practices which could be deemed questionable business conduct.
Direct the work of the department staff.
Prepare departmental budget.
Qualifications
BS in supply chain management, purchasing, business, or other related discipline.
7-10 years progressive purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to establish internal and external key relationships.
Experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contract terms and conditions.
Must be able to handle multiple projects.
Experience with MAPCIS and AS400 system, preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
