Job Description:
To ensure the jobs are performed safely and the safety of work force is of paramount importance.
Assist the Dock Master in performing calculations and preparing docking plans and block settings based on the principles of vessel stability, naval architecture, and marine engineering to safely distribute the load over the wooden blocks, cradle structure, wheels, rails, and platforms within the capacity limitations to avoid damage to the vessel or the equipment.
Assist the Dock Master in preparing docking arrangements including reviewing docking drawings and records, agreeing on the desired list, trim, and draught at the time of docking, and discussing weight control and distribution, line handling arrangements, sequence of events, and diving safety.
Plan the human and physical resources (including heavy equipment and cradles) for ship lifting and transferring operations.
Closely direct the manpower, heavy equipment, and ship transfer systems for the movement of vessels between the dry berths and ship lifts.
Closely direct the manpower (including from third parties), heavy equipment, and ship transfer systems for the preparation of cradles.
Inform the Dock Master of non-compliances by the vessel crew and/or ship repair contractor during ship lifting and transfer operations for issuing warnings or penalties based on DMC's tariff and berthing regulation or for seeking compensation on reported damages.
Undertake pre-operation inspections on a daily basis.
Prepare cradles as per the drawings supplied by the Dock Master/planner.
Able to inspect, on behalf of the Maintenance Supervisor, the ship lifting and transferring facilities for maintenance requirements.
