Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and professional butcher to join our team. In this role, the candidate will play a vital part in handling meat preparation, ensuring top-notch customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation and Handling:
   1. Cut, trim and prepare various meats (beef, poultry) to Golden Cart standards.
   2. Create specialty cuts and ready-to-cook products like marinated meats and sausages.
   3. Ensure proper storage and display of meat products to maintain freshness and quality.
2. Customer Service:
   1. Assist customers with meat selection and provide cooking and preparation advice.
   2. Process custom orders promptly and accurately, catering to customer preferences.
   3. Handle inquiries about products and ensure a friendly shopping experience.
3. Quality Assurance:
   1. Inspect meat deliveries for quality, ensuring all products meet Golden Cart’s premium standard.
   2. Remove and properly dispose of any expired or substandard products.
4. Hygiene and Safety Compliance:
   1. Maintain a clean and organised workspace, including cutting tools, machines, and display areas.
   2. Strictly adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene practices.
   3. Use protective gear and follow all health and safety guidelines during operations.
5. Stock and Inventory Management:
   1. Monitor inventory levels and report restocking needs.
   2. Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing meat deliveries.
6. Teamwork and Collaboration:
   1. Work closely with team members to ensure efficient operations in the meat section.
   2. Suggest new product ideas and contribute to improving the department’s offerings.

Requirements:

1. 3-5 years of experience as a butcher in a supermarket, butcher shop, or similar environment.
2. Expertise in meat cutting, preparation, and handling tools and equipment.
3. Strong knowledge of different types of meat and cuts, including premium products.
4. Food safety and hygiene certification (preferred).
5. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Ability to stand for long hours and lift heavy products.
8. Comfortable working in cold environments.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
