In the ELU department, we are every day striving to improve MAN Energy Solution products on behalf of our customers, Design and R&D departments, licensees, ship-owners and engine operators.

The highly agile business model applied at Low Speed Engineering/R&D has made ELU department feedback and knowledge an indispensable and vital part in the development and design of the most cutting edge Two-Stroke marine diesel engines in the world, and ELU staff are widely considered to have second-to-none Two-Stroke operational knowledge.

In Engine Support, we harvest and develop this knowledge in many ways, among other things by participating in R&D tests, TATs and FATs at licensees, supporting shipyards during quay and sea trials, and supporting ship-owners and operators in guarantee and extended guarantee periods worldwide. One of the most important tools in maintaining and building this world class knowledge is local presence at hot spots where our products pass by most frequently. This local presence is drastically reducing the required response time to address operational problems required by the aforementioned business model, and ensuring early and high quality design follow up and feedback to developers and designers about our newest products. In this connection, we now have a vacant Operation Engineer position at our Dubai hub. This position will be central in our collection and development of knowledge, and support for our customers, both internal and external.

We can offer you the following tasks:

Job responsibilities:

• Superintendent Engineer is responsible for his team, his own work tasks as required by seniors from time to time in accordance with assigned responsibilities.
• Supervises and leads a team of service engineers & technicians, skilled labour, and work crews in all activities concerned with field engineering works aspects.
• Ability to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Competent in reading, understanding, and interpreting specifications, drawings, and all other engineering related documentation.
• Familiar with and enforces strict compliance with all Engineering Standards, QA/QC and Safety procedures, plus all Company rules and regulations.
• Develops excellent working relationships with all other department personnel as well as client management.
• Liaise with other staff to ensure the optimum interface of the various operational activities, with the overall objective of successful completion of the maintenance/service activities and projects.
• Planning, monitoring and tracking of maintenance projects and daily progress and work completed, comparing planned to actual. Takes appropriate mitigating action to ensure compliance with the plan, based on knowledge of available manpower, equipment, materials, and in cooperation with planning engineer and project management.
• Ensures that the staff understands and implements the engineering aspects of the work plan, by explaining and engaging in proactive communication with the crews.
• Identifies and implements on-the-job training programs with the aim of developing and improving team members' competency in required skills and abilities.
• Being an expert, responsible for managing complex field service missions.
• Develops special solutions for his/her field of activity.
• Develops, designs and implements overall field service strategies with cross company implications.
• Coordination of experts of a lower level and external experts belonging to his/her field service responsibility area.
• Serves as contact for highly sensitive issues and problems.
• Promotes the development and implementation of best practices in his/her own area of responsibility.
• Supervises and repairs 2-stroke and 4-stroke diesel engines and engine components.
• Provides technical advice in the form of follow-up to previously visited vessels/power plants as well as engine related support to our clients.
• Communicates with various customers and MAN ES Head Offices.
• Prepares reports to customers for all work carried out.
• Participates in educational seminars according to schedule.

You can help us with these qualifications:

• Detailed understanding of the business at both technical and commercial levels.
• Seasoned engineer with 5 to 7 years of related experience, preferably in the heavy equipment/machines.
• University degree in Engineering with related work experience.
• Comparable vocational education with long-term work experience.
• Entrepreneurial mindset combined with a high degree of customer satisfaction and intimacy orientation.
• Excellent skills set required as mentioned in detailed competence profile.
• Sound interpersonal, presentation as well as intercultural skills and understanding.
• Very good coordination, organized and communication skills in a highly dynamic environment.
• Ability to uphold the highest ethical standards, high integrity.
• Business & commercial acumen.
