JOB PURPOSE:
The Student Accommodation supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the welfare, safety, and discipline of students residing in the University Dorms. Their responsibilities extend beyond simply ensuring the students' physical well-being, as they also play a vital role in creating a positive and conducive environment for students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and monitor the day-to-day operations of the student accommodation facilities.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify any issues or safety concerns.
- Respond to student inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff and student representatives to address any issues or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fire codes, and campus policies.
- Manage and maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
Facilities Management
- Oversee the maintenance and repairs of student accommodation facilities.
- Coordinate with external contractors for necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the premises, including common areas and bedrooms.
- Manage and coordinate room allocation and reassignments, ensuring fair distribution and compliance with university policies.
- Manage the access control system, including issuing keys, access cards, and CCTV monitoring.
Safety and Security
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security for all students.
- Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for students and staff.
- Monitor and enforce security measures, including access control, CCTV monitoring, and alarm systems.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, and security concerns.
- Collaborate with the campus security and emergency services teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Communication and Relationship Building
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty members, and university staff.
- Provide orientation and guidance to new students regarding accommodation policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with academic departments and other stakeholders to address student needs and ensure a smooth transition into university life.
- Organize social events and activities to foster a sense of community within the student accommodation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as property management, hospitality management, or social sciences.
- Proven experience in student accommodation supervision or a similar role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
