The Canadian University invites applications for a Student Accommodation Supervisor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Student Accommodation supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the welfare, safety, and discipline of students residing in the University Dorms. Their responsibilities extend beyond simply ensuring the students' physical well-being, as they also play a vital role in creating a positive and conducive environment for students.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversee and monitor the day-to-day operations of the student accommodation facilities.
2. Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify any issues or safety concerns.
3. Respond to student inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
4. Conduct regular meetings with staff and student representatives to address any issues or concerns.
5. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fire codes, and campus policies.
6. Manage and maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and furniture.

Facilities Management

1. Oversee the maintenance and repairs of student accommodation facilities.
2. Coordinate with external contractors for necessary repairs and maintenance.
3. Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the premises, including common areas and bedrooms.
4. Manage and coordinate room allocation and reassignments, ensuring fair distribution and compliance with university policies.
5. Manage the access control system, including issuing keys, access cards, and CCTV monitoring.

Safety and Security

1. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security for all students.
2. Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for students and staff.
3. Monitor and enforce security measures, including access control, CCTV monitoring, and alarm systems.
4. Respond to emergencies and incidents, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, and security concerns.
5. Collaborate with the campus security and emergency services teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Communication and Relationship Building

1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty members, and university staff.
2. Provide orientation and guidance to new students regarding accommodation policies and procedures.
3. Collaborate with academic departments and other stakeholders to address student needs and ensure a smooth transition into university life.
4. Organize social events and activities to foster a sense of community within the student accommodation.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as property management, hospitality management, or social sciences.
2. Proven experience in student accommodation supervision or a similar role.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Strong leadership and management skills.
5. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
6. Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure.
7. Flexibility and adaptability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
