Job description

The Stock Controller is responsible for managing the receipt, inspection, storage, and documentation of fabric, raw materials, and finished goods. This role ensures all inventory is accurately recorded, organized, and readily available to support operational efficiency. The position collaborates closely with Quality Control, Inventory Management, and Production to maintain a seamless flow of goods throughout the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Management and Control:
    1. Ensure receipt and accurate recording of all incoming materials and goods.
    2. Maintain up-to-date records of stock levels in the warehouse management system (WMS).
    3. Conduct regular stock checks, cycle counts, and audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
    4. Monitor stock levels and coordinate with procurement and production teams to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  2. Receiving and Inspection:
    1. Unload and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, and packing lists.
    2. Inspect fabric, raw materials, and finished goods for damages, defects, or discrepancies and report findings.
    3. Ensure proper labeling and tagging of goods for easy identification and traceability.
  3. Storage and Organization:
    1. Ensure all items are stored in designated locations according to company guidelines and industry standards.
    2. Optimize warehouse space and maintain a clean, safe, and organized storage environment.
    3. Safeguard stock against damage, theft, or spoilage by implementing proper storage practices.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    1. Work closely with the Quality Assurance team for inspection and approval of materials.
    2. Coordinate with the Production team to ensure timely delivery of raw materials for manufacturing.
    3. Communicate with the Warehouse Manager to address any discrepancies in shipments.
  5. Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Update inventory systems with accurate information about stock movements, including incoming and outgoing goods.
    2. Generate regular inventory reports to assist with forecasting and decision-making.
    3. Identify and report slow-moving, excess, or obsolete stock to relevant stakeholders.
  6. Compliance and Safety:
    1. Adhere to company policies and industry standards regarding inventory handling and control.
    2. Ensure compliance with safety regulations for storing and handling materials, particularly heavy or delicate items.
    3. Train and guide warehouse staff on proper inventory management procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in inventory management or logistics are a plus.

Experience:

  1. Minimum 2-3 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse operations, preferably in fabric or textile industries.
  2. Familiarity with raw materials and finished goods used in garment production or similar sectors.

Skills:

  1. Proficiency in inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  2. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  3. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  4. Advanced Excel knowledge.
  5. Physical ability to lift and move heavy items.

Warehouse or factory setting with moderate exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Knowledge of textile quality standards and storage requirements.
  2. Advanced knowledge of supply chain and inventory management processes.
