Hydro Dynamic Pipe Engineering was established in 2007. Since inception, the company has gained extensive experience through working with reputable customers across the entire UAE; making it a specialist in manufacturing HDPE pipes, fittings, tanks, road barriers and many other items.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Fabrication Supervisor - Steel is responsible for managing the steel related work of the factory.
Main Responsibilities: (Listed in order of priority)
Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to guide the range and level of work expected of the post holder. This is not an extensive list of all tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
- Supervise day-to-day structural / welding works, providing guidance to fabricators and welders, encouraging teamwork, facilitating related professional work processes, and resolving any escalated onsite issues in order to ensure that work is correctly prioritised and completed as per the schedule and budget.
- Start each shift on time and ensure all team members are present and assigned work in order of priority to meet on time delivery.
- Preparation of inspection reports along with QHSE department for all works.
- Monitor and enforce safe working practices in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements.
- Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates (including timesheets etc.) to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner and consistent with operating policies and procedures. Also, provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.
- Provide technical advice to employees on structural / welding-related matters to support them in the achievement of their jobs and to internal departments (e.g. engineering) to provide them with feedback and recommendations for future improvement based on technical issues faced in fabrication.
- Maintain incoming and outgoing inspection reports along with QHSE and store department.
- Responsible for detailed planning for execution of overall fabrication assignments.
- Ensure all direct labouring control work to safe working procedures and systems.
- Investigate incidences related to fabrication functions and take corrective/preventive actions to make sure safe working environment.
- Participate in monthly reviews conducted by factory manager/related managers to improve performance of department.
- Co-ordinate and allocate work to assigned employees in accordance with directions and report the job status to factory manager.
- Responsible for requesting required equipment, materials and consumables through material request form and submitting to store keeper/ factory manager, if any material is required for the job in advance.
- Monitor the use of materials and care of equipment and plant to minimise waste and damage.
- Prepare short term schedules at an agreed frequency ie daily and weekly.
- Ensure that all mechanical labour is constantly employed efficiently and effectively.
- Provide leadership and direction to assigned labour.
- Provide training to new employees.
- Refer disciplinary action to factory manager.
- Maintaining score card of labours for the appraisal of labours.
- Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements and that documentation is completed on time.
- Enforce safety rules through ongoing communication.
- Responsible for routine maintenance of all equipments in the department and documentation of the maintenance checklist.
- Assist in estimate of materials and manpower and time required to complete jobs.
- Comply with company ISO procedures/standards and records.
- Daily housekeeping of designated working areas.
- Daily documentation of job card, welding reports, BOQ, material request form.
- Responsible for proper storing of all materials required for the job.
- Responsible for packing, loading, unloading of materials required/ finished products for the job.
- Checking working condition of machines related to department, coming from outside and going out of factory and if not in working condition issuance of the same to maintenance department for rectification.
- Proper communication with all department managers.
- Allocation of waste materials and assisting QHSE department in inspection of same.
- Responsible for doing emergency work instructed directly by maintenance head and all managers.
- Suggest improvements to current work processes.
- Other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Factory Manager or the Management.
COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
- Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Word & MS Excel
- Able to read and interpret structural & Marine Fabrication Drawing
- Strong Knowledge in ASME standard for Quality Control
- Ability to prepare Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Ability to work as a team member
- Proactive in dealings with departmental members & customers
- Methodical/Cost Conscious
- Previous experience in steel fabrication, with a solid understanding of related processes and systems
- Degree holder or Diploma holder
COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Should possess good interpersonal skills for dealing with the factory team & other employees
- Should possess good teamwork skills
- Ability to cooperate with authorities at all levels in the larger interest of the Department and the organization.
