Staff Physician, Ophthalmologist for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
JOB SUMMARY:
This position focuses on the subspecialty of oculoplastic and orbital surgery within the Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD). The role involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of conditions related to the orbit, eyelids, tear ducts, and surrounding facial structures. The physician will apply advanced medical knowledge and surgical expertise to deliver exceptional care, lead innovations in treatment, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specialized Care:
- Provide advanced diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for conditions involving the eyelids, orbit, tear ducts, and adjacent facial areas.
- Perform complex reconstructive and aesthetic procedures, including trauma repair, ptosis correction, and orbital decompression.
- Manage patients with thyroid eye disease, orbital tumors, and congenital deformities.
Surgical Excellence:
- Carry out precise surgical interventions to address medical conditions within the scope of oculoplastic and orbital surgery.
- Develop and implement innovative surgical approaches aligned with best practices.
Collaborative Treatment:
- Work closely with other subspecialties, including ENT, neurology, endocrinology, and oncology, to provide comprehensive care.
- Refer patients to other healthcare professionals as required, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach.
Patient Interaction:
- Engage with patients to gather detailed medical histories and provide clear explanations of procedures, test results, and treatment plans.
- Offer culturally sensitive care with a focus on patient satisfaction.
Administrative Participation:
- Contribute to departmental committees and performance improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.
Educational Involvement:
- Participate in teaching and mentoring activities for residents and fellows specializing in oculoplastic surgery.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- For Physicians from Tier 1 countries, not less than two (2) years after obtaining main specialty qualification. One (1) year of experience after obtaining sub-specialty qualification.
- For Physicians from Tier 2 countries, not less than five (5) years after obtaining main specialty qualification. Four (4) years of experience after obtaining sub-specialty qualification.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Physicians with an accredited American Board of Medical Specialty (ABMS) Certification, Specialization Certificate of the The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), Certification by the College of Family Physicians Canada (CFPC), Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) or Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) from the UK will attain the title of Consultant without the experience requirements. This does not apply to surgical and interventional specialties.
