Job Purpose

To manage the procurement process for civil engineering materials and services required for construction projects. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing procurement activities, and ensuring that materials and services are delivered on time and within budget, while meeting project specifications and quality standards.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Procurement Planning:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for civil engineering materials and services.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to forecast procurement needs and ensurealignment with project schedules.

Supplier Management:

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for civil engineering materials and services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure quality and compliance.

Sourcing and Negotiation:

  • Source and obtain competitive quotes for civil engineering materials and services.
  • Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.

Purchase Order Management:

  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for civil engineering materials and services.
  • Track and monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues or delays.
  • Manage discrepancies between purchase orders and received goods, and address any related issues.

Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts related to the procurement of civil engineering materials andservices.
  • Ensure contracts are in compliance with legal requirements and company standards.

Cost Control and Budget Management:

  • Monitor procurement expenses and ensure adherence to project budgets.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to optimize procurement processes and reduce costs.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including supplier information, purchase orders, and contracts.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, including cost analysis and supplier performance.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that procured civil engineering materials and services meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with quality control teams to address any issues related to the quality of procured items.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks related to procurement activities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address and resolve procurement-related issues or disputes promptly.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Propose and implement improvements to procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, or a relatedfi eld; a Master’s degree or relevant professional certifi cations (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) are advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on civil engineering materials and services in the construction industry.
