Job description

Alongside your team counterparts (product, design, data), understand your customer / business needs / desires / problems to drive desired outcomes and create a strategy to drive desired outcomes.

Lead, inspire and empower a talented group of engineers to self-organize and discover, innovate, implement, deploy and own end-to-end complex software solutions.

Develop and grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching, and retention strategies in a hyper-growing, highly competitive economic environment.

Guide your team in the creation of software as a solution to an end-to-end problem in your business domain and deliver value in small batches, taking into account non-functional requirements such as availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of talabat’s services in line with our internal engineering standards.

Guide your team’s discovery, planning, and execution to successfully deliver value to our customers in small batches.

Lead a specific domain of our product.

Contribute to the wider tech organization by leading strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  3. Able to balance between continuous product discovery and delivery.
  4. Able to help others understand the value of continuous flow of value and the role of technical practices to enable it.
  5. Experience building & leading cross-functional, empowered and self-organized teams of multidisciplinary engineers.
  6. Able to transfer knowledge via mentoring and coaching.
  7. Strong Stakeholder and Dependency management via proactive communication.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of creating compelling written narratives to get the key stakeholders engaged.
  9. Humble, curious, and open-minded with a growth mindset, thriving on continuous feedback.
  10. Good understanding of lean / agile values & principles and associated practices.
  11. 8+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably within an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring).
  12. 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.
  13. Experience in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, and RESTful Services).
  14. Experience building, maintaining & improving with Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery.
  15. Solid experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and scaling of web apps and APIs.
  16. Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle.
  17. Strong familiarity with the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends / emerging tech.
  18. Proficient in testing with a focus on automated end-to-end quality.
  19. Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  20. Strong understanding of quality, performance, monitoring, alerting, and security standards.
  21. Wide experience in different technology stacks, tools, and practices such as DevOps.
