Speech - Language Therapist/Pathologist-Speech & Language Therapy
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides quality professional services in the evaluation and treatment of patients with speech, language, cognitive, fluency, voice, swallowing and feeding disorders and associated communication problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides support to a caseload of patients with developmental speech and language delay and disorder, and swallowing or feeding disorders in adults and/or paediatrics, appropriately. This includes developing and implementing specialised speech and language treatment plans for such individuals.
- Facilitates and studies in-depth case histories to include medical, social, psychological, educational and developmental information.
- Advises others regarding the management and care of patients with communication needs and oro-motor difficulties.
- Investigates skills and broad knowledge of standardized assessments together with sound, analytical clinical reasoning skills in order to form a baseline measure or differential diagnosis to plan a program of intervention.
- Delivers therapy intervention ensuring that speech, language and communication programs are an integral part of the patient's learning and daily routines.
- Coordinates and works as a member of the SLP team providing an efficient and effective service, and liaising with internal and external agencies.
- Provides timely and targeted individualized management, treatment and advice for patients, involving families, carers and educators and providing appropriate recommendations and training to professionals from other agencies and other disciplines.
- Monitors all use of equipment, reporting any faulty behavior and contacting maintenance/supplier for any required repairs/updates.
- Develops standard precautions for infection control.
- Maintains the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether formally or informally recorded.
- Attends regular staff meetings within the department, maintaining and assisting in the enforcement of up-to-date clinical and professional knowledge development, according to organizational/unit requirements (e.g. minimum of CPD/CME hours per year required for re-licensing).
- Manages shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- Required: NLT 2 years of post-graduate experience in the field of Speech and Hearing Sciences or in Speech Language Pathology.

Educational Qualification:
- Required:
- BSc in Speech & Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech or Communications Sciences & Disorders.
- AND Current National License or membership in a recognized international agency preferred.
- MSc. in Speech & Hearing, or Speech Language Pathology, Speech or Communications Sciences & Disorders (will reduce 1 year from the required years of experience). Candidates with MSc will be accepted with a basic degree in psychology or language.
