Sound & Light Technician

The Sound & Light Specialist is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of sound and lighting systems to ensure high-quality audiovisual experiences during events, rehearsals, and live performances. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration to deliver seamless productions.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Setup and Operation:

• Set up and install sound and lighting equipment, including speakers, microphones, amplifiers, mixers, stage lighting, and special effects systems.
• Operate soundboards and audio mixing consoles to achieve optimal sound quality during rehearsals and performances. Adjust volume levels, sound effects, and microphone settings as required.
• Design and execute lighting plans for events to enhance the overall atmosphere and create desired visual effects. Set up and program lighting consoles, control systems, and fixtures.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

• Identify and resolve technical issues related to sound and lighting equipment during rehearsals or live events. Troubleshoot problems with audio signals, lighting fixtures, and control systems.
• Ensure proper maintenance and regular servicing of sound and lighting equipment. Perform routine checks, cleaning, and repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Collaboration and Support:

• Collaborate with the Head of Events, event organizers, performers, and operations teams to understand technical requirements and provide support.
• Work closely with other technicians and team members to coordinate sound and lighting cues during live performances for seamless audiovisual productions.

Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations when handling sound and lighting equipment.
• Ensure compliance with electrical and fire safety standards during installations and operations.

Video Shooting:

• Record video footage using cameras as per guidance and requirements.
• Capture scenes accurately to support event documentation and promotional materials.

Education & Experience:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Lighting Design, Theatre Technology, or a related field. Certification in sound and lighting technology is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in sound and lighting operations for events, performances, or productions.
• Proven experience with soundboards, audio mixing consoles, and lighting control systems.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in setting up and operating sound and lighting equipment, including speakers, microphones, amplifiers, mixers, stage lighting, and special effects systems.
• Strong knowledge of audio signal processing, lighting design principles, and programming lighting consoles.
• Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting technical issues with equipment and control systems.
• Understanding of electrical safety and fire safety regulations related to sound and lighting systems.
• Basic video shooting skills with experience handling cameras and recording scenes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with performers, organizers, and production teams.
