Software Engineer

Job Description: The Global Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications program is dynamic and fast-paced. The Global Track Processing (GTP) team is critical to the mission, which strives to present accurate global situational awareness via raw sensor data to the warfighter.

GTP is seeking a software engineer who will thrive in an environment requiring maintenance and development of Java-based applications heavily reliant on efficient algorithm development & linear algebra. Candidate engineers are eager to tackle difficult problems through collaboration and comradery. This engineer jumps at the opportunity to assist his team across the finish line and accepts, on occasion, to be dragged! Collaboration mandates excellent written and communication skills and well-articulated documentation in clearly documented software.

Daily activities include:

1. Technical memorandums
2. White papers
3. Software modeling
4. Technical presentations

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Active secret clearance
• 3-5 years of experience
• Understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Understanding of object-oriented software development and automated testing.
• The ability to analyze high-level needs and define a structured and logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that lead to a fielded product.
• Effective communication skills, with experience writing and implementing project reports, plans, and status.

The GTP software engineer is expected to have the following professional practical experience:

1. 3+ years of Java development experience
2. Writing unit-testable operational code and unit tests exercising said code
3. 2+ years in a Linux-based (preferably Red Hat / CentOS / Oracle Linux) environment
4. 2+ years with GIT in Linux
5. 2+ years with Jira and Confluence
6. 1+ years of software modeling using UML
7. 1+ years writing & presenting technical documentation to audiences ranging from team members to non-technical customers
