Aldar Education is currently seeking a Social Worker for Yasmina American School in Abu Dhabi commencing immediately.

Responsibilities

Main Duties

1. Help students enhance personal, social, and academic growth and wellbeing
2. Monitor the progress of individual students
3. Make contact with parents to discuss student behaviour or support needs
4. Take steps to prevent bullying and support victims of bullying
5. Help students develop job search skills, such as resume writing and interviewing techniques
6. Help students understand and deal with social, behaviour, and personal problems
7. Deliver therapeutic intervention based on the need of the individuals and provide referral to external services as needed
8. Emphasize preventive and developmental counselling to provide students with life skills needed to deal with problems before they worsen and to enhance students' personal, social, and academic growth
9. Provide special services such as conflict resolution classes; identify cases of domestic abuse and other family problems that can affect a student's development
10. Work with students regarding career options and provide appropriate information to students regarding careers
11. Assist in providing students with information for career exploration and selection to assist them in making appropriate academic course selections relating to their interests
12. Maintain an appropriate library/database relating to various careers for students to utilize in their career explorations
13. Coordinate access to university affairs and with university applications

Behaviour Management and Duties

1. Follow the school's behaviour policy
2. Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to students' needs in order to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
3. Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary within the school's behavioural policy
4. Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values, and behaviours which are expected of pupils
5. Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners
6. Carry out duties as directed and within the school's policy

Qualifications

Minimum Experience

1. Bachelor of Science/Education in Social Work
2. DCD License
3. Minimum of 1 year experience as a Social Worker or in other related experience required

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

1. Appropriate license to carry out Social Work
2. Strong interpersonal skills with both students and parents
3. Demonstrable organizational skills
4. Strong desire to help others and should be able to inspire respect, trust, and confidence
5. Must possess high emotional and physical energy to handle the array of problems addressed
