Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with a team of DevOps engineers to operate SaaS capabilities across multiple regions on the cloud platform.
2. Design, implement, configure, and utilize monitoring systems to monitor the health of SaaS products.
3. Manage infrastructure used for ArcGIS Velocity, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot problems to resolution.
4. Design and implement the deployment and upgrade containerized micro-service components that, when combined, power Esri's SaaS offerings.
5. Participate in technical spike efforts, bringing new innovative ideas to future versions of our software.
6. Troubleshoot the system incidents and provide root cause analysis reports.
7. Provide rotational on-call technical support.

Requirements

1. 5+ years of experience managing Kubernetes (AKS, EKS), logging and monitoring (ELK, Prometheus), and container technologies (Docker).
2. Comfortable with YAML syntax (writing Azure DevOps pipelines and Kubernetes resources).
3. Ability to write scripts to deploy infrastructure and/or applications (Bash, Python, Golang).
4. Expert level understanding and experience with cloud computing platforms (Microsoft Azure or Amazon EC2).
5. Ability to work with continuous integration and delivery best practices.
6. Working knowledge of a source control and issue management system, preferably GitHub.
7. Bachelor's in computer science, computer engineering, GIS, or information systems.

Recommended Qualifications

1. Master's in computer science, computer engineering, GIS, or information systems.
2. 5+ years of experience designing, administering, and/or maintaining cloud environments, such as Azure, supporting 24×7 high-availability production environments.
3. Interest in working with GitOps principles to automate the deployment of applications on Kubernetes clusters.
4. Knowledge of operating resilient, highly available, scalable, and performance SaaS capabilities.
5. Experience operating and managing Apache Kafka with high-velocity data.
6. Experience operating cloud native storage solutions.
7. Familiarity in deploying and operating reactive applications using Scala, the Play framework, and Akka.
8. Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS or other web mapping technologies.
