1 Mission

Under the leadership of the project manager on site, take full responsibility of the architectural aspects of the assigned project(s) ensuring that all works are carried out as per the approved design, in line with contract and to relevant international standards - delivered on time and to full satisfaction of the clients.

2 Line and Staff Relations

The Site Architect will report into the Project Manager on-site on a daily basis and to the Head of Practice Building Design in the design office at an organizational level.

ARTELIA AIRPORTS staff:

  • Team of Architects, Inspectors and BIM technicians in the site office.

Internal / External collaborators:

  • Engineers of different trades within the site supervision team as well as with Architects and Engineers in the design office.
  • With authorized contractors representatives assigned for the projects in the most professional manner ensuring all meetings are minuted and all exchanges are adequately documented.

3 Key Responsibilities

Design delivery:

  • Assist the site supervision team in the successful delivery of the project.
  • Responsible to ensure the design meets all relevant international codes and standards required for the project.
  • Ensuring that all project deliverables (drawings, specifications etc) are fully coordinated from a contractual point of view.
  • Shop drawings submitted by contractors are reviewed in line with the contract drawings and specification to ensure they fully meet the design intent. Shop drawings are to be coded as per the agreed procedure and returned within the agreed timeline.
  • Material submissions submitted by contractors are reviewed in line with the contract drawings and specification to ensure they fully meet the design intent. Material submissions are to be coded as per the agreed procedure and returned within the agreed time.
  • All information requested by the contractor are provided within the contractual obligations and such information is provided within the agreed time.
  • Coordinate with the design office for any discrepancies in the contract document and ensure that the responses provided to the contractor are in line with the design intent.
  • Act as the project's design coordinator and contribute (fully or partially) to the overall design management activities.
  • Participation in meetings, recording of minutes and reporting.
  • Take initiatives to develop lesson learned documents, design manuals, standard design documents, presentations, etc. so as to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across the wider architectural community.

Documentation:

  • Ensure all meetings with contractors, clients representatives or external sub-consultants/ sub-contractors are properly minuted and the minutes are dispatched within the agreed timeline.
  • All correspondence on site are done according to the Company standards on approved templates and all relevant documentation are maintained for all exchanges with the contractor.
  • Ensure that minutes are prepared and dispatched for multidisciplinary internal coordination meeting.

Coordination:

  • Coordinate work on site within all disciplines and ensure that the design is fully coordinated.
  • Coordinate work with all external agencies involved including stakeholders and sub-consultants and all approving agencies/authoritative.
  • Ensure that all coordination works are planned as per the program and tracked to ensure that all deliverables are received on time.

Resource management:

  • Participate with Project Manager in resource allocation and ensure that allocated resources are utilized effectively to meet all project deadlines.
  • Communicate to the team all aspects of the project clearly to ensure that the team is fully aware of the project at all times.
  • Ensure the supervision team is motivated at all times.

4 Profile Specifications Minimum Requirements

  • 5-10 years of total site experience with a minimum of 3 years on Airport projects.
  • Bachelor of Architecture / MArch Degree
  • UAE Society of Engineers membership
  • Abu Dhabi Engineering license
  • International Accreditation (RIBA, AIA or equivalent) and Sustainability Certification (LEED, PQP or equivalent) is preferred
  • Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements
  • Full knowledge of international codes and standards, regulations and submission requirements
  • Developed knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Principles and Sustainable Design principles.
  • Strong proficiency in Autocad and BIM (revit) skill
  • Excellent organizational, communication and people orientation competencies.
