Shipbuilding Production Manager

Position Description

Position: Ship Building Manager / Quality Manager

Function: Operations

Reporting To: Managing Director

Qualifications & Experience

• Educational Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Engineering (preferably Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Marine Engineering).
• Provides a strong foundation in shipbuilding, including design, construction, and systems integration.
• Experience: 10 to 20 years in shipbuilding.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Oversee the entire shipbuilding process, from conceptual design to final delivery.
2. Develop and manage project timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
3. Coordinate with design, procurement, and production departments to achieve project milestones.
4. Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and cost efficiency.
5. Approve procurement of materials and services while monitoring expenditures.
6. Allocate resources efficiently, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
7. Oversee testing and inspections to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
8. Manage quality assurance programs and processes.
9. Lead and mentor a team of engineers, designers, and laborers.
10. Select and manage suppliers and contractors, negotiating contracts, costs, and timelines.
11. Assess potential risks (technical, operational, safety, financial) associated with projects.
12. Develop detailed construction schedules for shipbuilding projects.

Additional Accountabilities

1. Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) to comply with international standards (e.g., ISO 9001, SOLAS, MARPOL).
2. Establish quality control procedures and testing methods to ensure adherence to quality standards.
