Ship Repair Mechanic

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Must have an understanding of various mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, IC engines (marine), valves, and hydraulics.
2. Must have the ability to demonstrate understanding of motor operations and capability to repair and install the motors.
3. Must have knowledge of mechanical pumps and their flow ratings & capacities and must be able to understand the mounting drawings along with the ability to repair, install, and operate them.
4. Must have the capability to repair, install, and operate various mechanical valves and the associated hydraulic systems.
5. Must have the ability to perform service/overhaul of various Internal Combustion Engines related to the marine industry as per the guidelines of the OEM.
6. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and commission other mechanical equipment as per the OEM standards.
7. Must have the ability to interpret OEM drawings and diagrams and have a basic idea of the tolerance charts.
8. Must be able to use and interpret readings from various measuring equipment and tools as may be used from time to time.
9. Must have the skill to use spanners, hydraulic jacks, hydraulic pumps, and other equipment that may be needed for the job.
10. Must comply with the HSE guidelines and work under the framework as set by the company and the superiors.

Scope of Work for 2 Stroke & 4 Stroke Engine Overhauling:

1. Disassembling/overhauling of exhaust valve housing.
2. Servicing/overhauling of stuffing box.
3. Inspection of main/cross head bearings.
4. Testing of pistons.
5. Removal of liners/jackets.
6. Servicing of lubricators.
7. Servicing of M/E fuel injectors/pumps.
8. Inspection of timing gears.
9. Overhauling of roller guide assembly.
10. Using deflection gauge.

Person Profile:

1. Education Qualification: ITI qualified with diploma holder being preferred along with a certificate course in Engine operations or Hydraulic equipment.
2. Experience required: Previous experience of 3 to 5 years in a ship repair company in a similar capacity will be preferred with knowledge of various marine mechanical components as listed above.
3. Experience in Man B&W, MTU, MAK, DAIHATSU, PEILSTICK, SULZER, YANMAR, MWM, CATERPILLAR, and ZSPR ENGINES Dismantle/Clean/Overhaul/Box up/Test with knowledge of procedures and sequence preferred.
4. Experience in single, two-stage, multistage pumps Dismantle/Clean/Overhaul/Box up/Test with knowledge of procedures and sequence preferred.
