Senior Web Designer / Developer

A privately owned Middle East media company is seeking a highly dynamic Senior Web Designer/Developer.

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Manage the Web team (1 developer, 1 administrator) in order to develop websites for the company.
2. The Web Developer-Designer is responsible for the development and design of major and minor Web applications and components for internal and external Insurance system users.
3. The developer will design, develop, test and deliver web sites, applications and components. Enhancements and defect resolution will be required on an ongoing basis.
4. Best practices and design methods will be utilized to ensure the success of the projects.
5. The developer will have the ability to create web applications and components from the requirements stage, through design, through production deployment. They will be required to have experience in graphics, layout, scripting, programming, as well as development involving compatibility and seamless integration with various technologies.
6. Creates prototypes and functional specifications for software projects.
7. Determines new Web technologies to utilize, such as browsers, languages, and plug-ins, based on the company’s needs.
8. Conceptualizes long-term needs of Web development, and plans and manages related projects.
9. Makes suggestions on creating Web-based technical standards for specific Web sites and the company as a whole.
10. Knowledge of major content management systems with thorough understanding and experience with WordPress.
11. Understanding of HTML, HTML 5, XHTML, PHP, Flash, XML, MySQL, Web Services, JavaScript and CSS with the ability to rapidly learn and master diverse web technologies and techniques.
12. Expertise in Drupal and Joomla are mandatory.
13. Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator) or GIMP.
