Senior Vice President - Legal Counsel

Reporting into the Group General Counsel, you will review a variety of legal documents and provide legal advice to the wider Aldar business in order to mitigate legal risk.

Responsibilities include:

1. Provide accurate and timely advice to commercial teams on all aspects of corporate M&A including corporate structuring, relevant legislation, company incorporations, and M&A transaction documentation.
2. Consider commercial instructions and apply effective risk management techniques to offer proactive and commercial advice on potential legal risks.
3. Review, draft, and negotiate transaction documentation.
4. Obtain effective instructions from the commercial teams.
5. Communicate effectively and provide clear legal instructions to external law firms.
6. Lead any legal input (alongside the general counsel and relevant commercial teams) on large, complex strategic projects.
7. Supervise junior members of the legal team and delegate effectively.
8. Build relationships with end user departments.
9. Comply with relevant internal governance documentation.
10. Research and evaluate different risks regarding business decisions and operations.
11. Communicate and negotiate with external parties as required.
12. Draft and update legal templates as required.
13. Deal with multiple stakeholders.
14. Maintain current knowledge of relevant legal updates.
15. Co-ordinate, follow up, and monitor the progress of active matters.
16. Ability to prioritise work efficiently and manage multiple ongoing transactions.
17. Maintain accurate records of advice provided.

Skills & Qualifications

RELATED YEAR OF EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in an international law firm (or equivalent experience in-house).

YOE IN MANAGERIAL POSITION

Minimum of 4+ years of managerial experience.

FIELD OF EXPERIENCE

Experience in M&A including share disposals and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate structuring.

TECHNICAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Proven experience as a legal counsel in a commercial environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant laws and ability to undertake independent research.
