Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. In large companies, this requires understanding a global or multi-office network infrastructure.
Helps develop, document, communicate, and enforce a network technology policy.
Is responsible for the installation and configuration of new software and hardware, including the server network, devices, and firewalls.
Is responsible for monitoring system performance, IT system operations, and storage utilization.
Plans ahead for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
Manages user accounts and assets, and assigns and updates security permissions on the network according to security policy.
Provides support with escalated help desk requests.
Leads a team of systems administrators and coordinates with different departments.
Mentors team members and educates users.
Architects and maintains network storage, virtualized and non-virtualized server environments, and all WAN/LAN networking segments.
Builds and configures Windows and Linux Servers for Development, Corporate, and Production datacenter environments, leveraging automation tools for deployments and system consistency.
Develops and operates various tools to monitor Network, Server, and Storage health and performance.
Contributes to the capacity, scalability, and budget planning.
Performs maintenance and upgrades during off-hours and provides 24 X 7 on-call support.
Assists in root cause analysis of production issues and provides reports that include recommendations for identifying future issues more quickly, preventing future failures entirely, whether through process or technology improvements.
Resolves system emergencies with significant impact on the integrity of user data and systems.
Establishes software/hardware standards and systems policies and procedures.
Conceptualizes and implements systems within broad technical or structural frameworks.
Performs capacity planning for system configuration, software services, network services, load distribution, and service interrelationships among computer systems.
Qualifications:
At least 3-5 years of experience working in the information technology sector.
Bachelor's degree in the field of computer science, information science, information systems, or related field.
Advanced knowledge of networking and distributed computing environment concepts, as well as a sound understanding of the principles of routing, firewalls, and client/server applications. Also has experience with troubleshooting and issue resolution principles, methodologies, and techniques.
Good knowledge of applicable laws and data privacy policies.
Requires team management and problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, strong organization skills, and initiative.
