Senior Software Engineer (Payments)

With a stronghold in Dubai (UAE) and sights set on expansion, we're now looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to help shape our next chapter.

What You'll Do

1. Design and develop Pluto’s flagship products and build complex, resilient payments infrastructure
2. Play a pivotal role in architecting and building critical payment processing, ledgering, and financial reconciliation systems
3. Architect and implement robust integrations with various payment rails and financial APIs
4. Lead the development lifecycle of features and work streams from design to deployment
5. Become a voracious problem solver who can tackle difficult issues on tight timelines, manage cross-functional dependencies and set an exemplary bar for engineering within the organization
6. Write and maintain clean, maintainable and testable code, leveraging design patterns and architecture where appropriate
7. Participate in code reviews, pair-programming sessions and provide constructive feedback to peers
8. Develop a strong understanding of the domain and bring a deep product and design mindset while building solutions

Requirements

Who We're Looking For

1. 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer (with a focus on payments/fintech)
2. Extensive experience in developing and integrating with banking and card scheme protocols
3. Experience in working with third-party APIs and integrating external financial services into backend systems
4. Mastery in at least one programming language (e.g Kotlin, Java, Go, Scala, Rust)
5. Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases and distributed systems
6. Strong grasp of SQL and relational data modelling
7. Experienced with API design and development (e.g GraphQL, REST, RPC)
8. Experience in designing and developing scalable, secure and reliable backend systems
9. Strong understanding of SDLC, software design principles, architectural and integration patterns
10. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and debug complex software systems
11. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
