A sound knowledge of Engineering Principles and ability to design using all common building materials.
Report writing and documentation skills.
Processing construction documentation such as, responding to RFIs and commenting on engineering submittals.
Review engineering designs and provide input on their suitability. Advise on changes if required during the engineering phase.
Contribute to designs produced by GHD to ensure the contractor has a well-coordinated set of drawings.
Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures are followed during project execution.
Proactively collaborate with other members of the team to deliver innovative and balanced best value solutions that meet the Client's requirements.
Assist Project Managers in monitoring and driving progress.
Manage BIM technicians and mentor graduate engineers.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
10 years of professional experience working on buildings and Infrastructure projects.
Maritime structural experience.
Experienced in the design and specification of building structures in steel, concrete, and masonry to American and British Standards.
Be familiar with the local UAE Authority design requirements.
Have proven experience of delivering projects from design through completion in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment.
Experienced user of structural engineering software including CSi ETABS, SAFE, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD, Prokon in addition to in-house spreadsheets.
A solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with the ability to carry out coordination and reviews through Revit.
Can undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs.
