About the Role: The job holder is responsible to assist in meeting the marine operation and maintenance section's Health Safety Environment and Quality objectives through active interaction with the workforce by driving safety and quality awareness and in creating a genuine safety culture throughout the workplace. He will be required to assist in ensuring all incidents are thoroughly investigated and corrective actions put in place to prevent recurrence as well as to ensure that the Hazards and Corrective actions register is kept up to date as required.
Major Activities / Deliverables
Communicate the elements of the ISO/ISMS to the workforce and give feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement.
Proactively promote safety awareness and compliance with client policies and procedures to improve the level of safety and environmental performance and meet quality standards.
Monitor compliance of all staff, especially in the marine maintenance workshop, with client’s Health Safety and Environment policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Take corrective action to remedy safety hazards or risks and restore a safe working environment.
Active involvement in all incident investigations ensuring the processes in place are followed and documented and appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented within the due dates.
Management of the incident register keeping it up to date and providing ongoing analysis to identify trends and recommending plans to address these.
Maintain record of Hazards & Corrective actions registry and work with individuals to close out items.
Assist in the enforcement and maintenance of the Business unit's integrated management system and to actively work to meet the targets set for the business.
Facilitate and assist in coordinating HSE training to employees.
Conduct Risk assessments on all operations and tasks and identify and action control measures to be put in place.
Assist in the identification of environmental impacts and maintain the aspects and impacts register.
Develop and implement safe work procedures for tasks.
Enforce safety programs Step back 5 x 5 and safety short talks.
Carry out HSEQ inductions for all employees and contractors.
Prepare reports as required to meet company reporting requirements.
Regularly visit vessels and shore-based worksites with the workforce to provide guidance, advice, and presentations on the IMS.
Conduct audits and inspections of all worksites, follow up, and assist in closing out findings; maintain the audit register of all audits and inspections completed on vessels and operations.
Maintain a document control system and keep all files and records in an up-to-date and accurate manner to improve the efficiency of day-to-day activities.
Must be available for support on weekends/holidays as the need arises.
Requirements Knowledge and Experience:
ISM and ISO auditor qualifications.
Formal training in incident investigations and root cause analysis or similar.
Solid experience with OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and the ISM code.
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management applications.
