The Role

Wood is currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead procurement activities on a major onshore EPCM oil and gas project. The role involves overseeing sourcing, contracts, supplier management, and logistics to ensure efficient and cost-effective procurement in line with project requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas procurement, extensive knowledge of EPC / EPCM project execution, and expertise in managing complex supply chains.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing and implementing procurement strategies to meet business objectives.
• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.
• Evaluating supplier performance and maintaining strong relationships with key vendors.
• Ensuring timely delivery of goods and services while maintaining inventory levels.
• Reviewing requests for proposals (RFPs) and negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers.
• Coordinating with operations, maintenance, warehouse and engineering to ensure proper scheduling and movement of goods and supplies.
• Training new employees and supporting team members as necessary.

Expected Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in engineering, procurement or supply chain.

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

• Minimum 20 years of experience majority being in procurement and supply chain management within major oil & gas EPC / EPCM projects.
• Strong knowledge of EPC / EPCM project execution, including procurement planning, vendor prequalification, and contract negotiation.
• Familiarity with oil and gas industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
• Experience in managing procurement for large-scale equipment, materials, and services in onshore oil and gas projects.
• Expertise in strategic sourcing, tendering, and supplier evaluation to optimize cost and performance.
• Strong contract management skills, including negotiating terms, mitigating risks, and managing claims.
• Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project objectives and timelines.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting for procurement activities.
• Understanding of total cost of ownership (TCO) and supply chain optimization.
• Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including liaising with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Experience in leading and mentoring procurement teams in high-pressure environments.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) for procurement and materials management.
• Strong understanding of data analytics, reporting, and digital procurement tools.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-value projects with tight deadlines.
