Senior Procurement & Logistics Executive

The Barrick Group is a diverse conglomerate with operations spanning F&B, retail, HORECA brand management and distribution, food commodities trading, consulting, and light manufacturing. While the GCC remains our primary market, we have also expanded our operations to our home base in Canada.

Experience:

  • 10-15 years of experience in Procurement, logistics, supply chain, or a similar role, ideally within the UAE.
  • Must have FMCG industry experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Procurement Management:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet company objectives and optimize sourcing of materials and services.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with local and international suppliers and vendors.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers based on cost, quality, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Ensure proper price comparison with suppliers, sharing the comparison sheet for finance and management review.
  • Act as the main focal person for management and internal procurement requirements for Barrick and subsidiaries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support the management with business development of product sourcing.
  • Identify innovative products that align with the company's strategy and offering.

Logistics Operations Management:

  • Plan and manage logistics operations, including shipment scheduling, transportation, and the timely delivery of goods to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop shipment schedules and regularly update management on the status and progress of shipments.
  • Oversee coordination with Dubai Municipality (DM), freight forwarders, international suppliers, and clients to ensure smooth logistics operations.

Regulatory Coordination:

  • Handle communications with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), including managing excise duty registrations in collaboration with tax agents.
  • Ensure compliance with DM regulations by managing Arabic stickering in the Food Watch account.
  • Coordinate new product launch approvals with DM, FTA, and Brand Sync to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with DM to facilitate food import request closures (Food Import Request System, FIRS) once shipments arrive in the UAE.
  • Attend inspections at the warehouse to ensure compliance and operational standards.

Shipment Tracking and Vendor Management:

  • Track daily shipment ETAs to monitor and report any potential delays in real-time.
  • Handle freight inquiries and secure quotations/comparisons, providing updates to finance and management as required.
  • Manage and arrange cross-trade shipments for import, export, and other logistics requirements.
  • Arrange courier shipments at GM's request to meet organizational demands.

Tax and Excise Duty Management:

  • Submit EX 201 declarations on the FTA portal for excise imports to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with tax agents to amend Retail Selling Prices (RSPs) for excise products as per management's instructions.

Inventory and Stock Management:

  • Verify stock reports post-import and export from the warehouse to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Verify item labels for each SKU upon arrival of new shipments to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels to maintain optimum inventory levels in line with demand and minimize holding costs.
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop proper inventory/product forecast charts, present to management, and manage the stock levels.

Stock Audits and Records Management:

  • Conduct regular stock audits, investigating and resolving any discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of shipments, inventory levels, and orders.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and all safety protocols.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Chartered Procurement and Supply chain professional degree (CIPS) will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs processes, and DM and FTA compliance.
  • Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software, with excellent MS Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
