The Senior Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for overseeing process safety activities for the Engineering phase including FEED and Detailed Engineering for oil and gas projects. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with safety standards, hazard analysis, and risk assessments contributing to the design and implementation of safe and efficient processes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead process safety engineering activities during the FEED and Detailed Engineering phases of oil and gas projects.
Develop and review process safety design documentation including P&IDs, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA studies.
Conduct risk assessments and safety reviews to ensure all project designs comply with safety regulations and best practices.
Provide technical safety input into the development of design philosophies, fire protection strategies, and safety-critical equipment selection.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams ensuring integration of process safety elements into overall project design.
Perform consequence modeling, risk assessments, and safety case development for major hazards.
Ensure adherence to international and regional safety standards (e.g. API, OSHA, ISO, ADNOC, etc.).
Participate in client meetings and liaise with regulatory authorities as needed.
Provide support in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
Develop and mentor junior engineers within the safety engineering team.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in process safety engineering with extensive expertise in the Engineering phase, FEED, and Detailed Engineering for oil and gas projects.
Strong knowledge of international safety standards (API, ISO, ADNOC, OSHA).
Proven track record of successfully delivering process safety solutions in large-scale EPC oil and gas projects.
Experience with safety analysis tools including HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, and risk assessment techniques.
